Maison Cathar - Sleeps up to 8 people
This large Winemakers house has been beautifully renovated whilst keeping many of its original character features. A salt water swimming pool with fountain and terrace is situated in the rear courtyard. Whilst in a quiet location the house is only 40 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches and ideal for exploring the nearby towns of Carcassone, Limoux and Mirepoix. The Pyrenees mountain chain is within an hours drive.

The Languedoc is one of the most popular regions of France with its long sandy beaches, rolling hills and vineyards and these days easy access, either by plane or car. The latter takes you over the highest road bridge in the world at Millau on the A75 or you can travel from the north on the A62 motorway past Toulouse. The climate is hot and sunny with temperatures often in the high 30's in summer and with over 300 days of sunshine a year the house is well situated.

Montlaur Village area

The centre of the village has shops and a small supermarket, a larger supermarket is situated at Trebes on the Canal du Midi, just outside Carcassone. A number of festivals are held in the village and the surrounding villages and town throughout the year - including the Festival in Carcassone in July. Carcassone and its walled town is full of shops, restaurants and bars as well as famous for antique and gift shops, many of which you will find in the cobbled streets of the fortified town.

A golf course is within 25 minutes drive in Carcassone as well as fishing on the river Aude. The nearby abbey town of Lagrasse is also an important place to visit as well as follow the chateau on the Cathar trail and follow the history of this superb region. There are many vineyards to explore as well as some lovely country restaurants nearby.

How to get there

Airport: Carcassone: 40 km, Railway Station: Narbonne: 42 km
Flights from the Uk and elsewhere arrive at Carcassone - 45 minutes drive, Perpignan is 1 hours drive or Toulouse and Montpellier 1.5 hours drive away. There are also flights from the UK to Nimes and Girona in Spain, both within 2 hours drive time.

Cheap flights include Ryanair and BMI Baby.

By train/TGV from Paris in 4 hours to Narbonne and then taxi - 25 minutes.

Indoor

There are two bedrooms with twin beds, one being a suite with its own lounge. A further suite with double bedroom and a second double bedroom is available. All four bedrooms/suites include there own ensuite bath/shower room and W.C.

Outdoors

Courtyard with terrace, Private outdoor swimming pool, Barbecue, Outdoor dining for 8 people and sun loungers. There is a salt water swimming pool with fountain, overlooked by an upper terrace. Allso a shower and WC facilities can be found in the pool area.


Rental Conditions

The house is available only Saturday to Saturday basis only with rental subject to booking form. Payment of rental is one third to confirm reservation, with the balance and refundable security bond payable four weeks prior to arrival. Payment can be made in £sterling for your convenience only via the UK company account using internet banking or at any UK branch of Barclays, or directly to the French company account in Euros via bank transfer in France, International bank transfer or French cheque if you have a French bank account, or Eurocheque.

Children under 3 not permitted. No pets are allowed. Smoking is permitted in the courtyard area outside the house.

Rental price is 2150 Euros per week in July and August.

There is a security deposit of 300 Euros.
