 The owners are charming and welcoming, and the grounds are free to enjoy. The house has its own entrance and full availability of the swimming pool, table tennis, barbecue area, petanque area and park. Secluded and quiet the chateau is an ideal place to stay for a relaxing holiday, with the French aristocracy as neighbours. You will enjoy their company at some stage during your stay as well as Tara their beautiful golden retriever. The chateau also sits at the centre of the largest wine region in Europe with excellent wines available such as the reds of Faugeres, St Chinian, excellent rose and white wine that pairs with local seafood perfectly (oyster and mussels) and the local Muscat de Frontignan, a sweet dessert or aperitif wine. Private wine cave visits can be arranged.The yacht marina at Cap D’Agde is nearby as are the fishing ports of Marseillan and Meze. There are lots of leisure pursuits including tennis within a short walk or indoor tennis, badminton and squash courts in Agde, two golf courses, riding, fishing and of course ideal cycling country. There are aquaparks at Agde and Vias. The towns of Carcassone, Perpignan and Montpellier are within an hour and the Spanish border an hour and a half, Barcelona is 3 hours. The local towns of Narbonne, Beziers and Pezenas are close by. There are many festivals that take place in the region from January to December. |
 The Languedoc is one of the most popular regions of France with its long sandy beaches, rolling hills and vineyards and these days easy access, either by plane or car. You can drive over the gorge du Tarn these days at Millau, via the highest road bridge in the world on the A75 just over an hour from the house. The climate is hot and sunny with temperatures often in the high 30's in summer and with over 300 days of sunshine a year the house is well situated. The Canal du Midi is nearby, a World Heritage site, an ideal place to wail away the time watching the boats that cruise between the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea. The Knights Templar village of St Guilhelm le Dessert, the Pont du Gard the roman aqueduct and the famous walled city of Carcassone are all within an hours drive as well as the Cathar castles and history. The mountains of the Pyrenees also are with an hour and a half.Fly to the following airports - Beziers (20 mins by car)Montpellier (40 mins), Nimes (1hr 20 mins), Carcassone (1hr) or Perpignan (1hr) and use hire car (Hertz , Avis or Europcar). Or Barcelona, Marseille or Toulouse which are within 3 hours drive Inside the secure grounds is a large gravel parking area with the chateau offering the following accommodation. A wide and luminous entrance hall gives access to the living and dining rooms and both with French doors to the large rear terrace. They are linked via the TV room with satellite channels and DVD and CD player. There are also a number of board and card games including bridge. Off the dining room is a modern kitchen breakfast room. |
A balustraded staircase in marble and stone accesses the upper floor. A tiled corridor leads to four bedrooms (two double king size beds, two twin beds). One bedroom has a dressing room. There are 2 bathrooms, with bath and shower and separate WC’s. Additional sleeping accommodation can be provided for groups larger than 8.The property has some antique furniture, light fittings and drapes. For this reason children under 5 are not permitted. From the terrace via a short path access is given to the walled and lawned area that houses the 12 x 6 meters swimming pool with all pool furniture provided. Additional cleaning should be ordered in advance. Pool towels are not provided. In peaks season reservations are Saturday to Saturday with more flexibility out of season. Reservations are subject to contract and payment of rental in advance as well as a refundable security deposit of 600 Euros. Rates for 8 people are as follows, May June and September 1895 Euros per week, July and August 3370 Euros per week. October to April – contact us for details.
