 Sharing the drive with a 'petit chateau', the garden, swimming pool and terraces are completely private and enhanced by a summer kitchen with barbecue area.Quality traditional materials have been used throughout the house and many original features including terracota tiles, oak doors, tapestry painting and wood shutters. Yet all modern conveniences are available. Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor, with a double bedroom with ensuite and terrace upstairs accessed via a spiral staircase. There are four bedrooms, three with ensuites, a large lounge, kitchen, laundry room, and a beautiful private garden, with views of the countryside.  Boujan is a small wine village between Beziers and Pezenas in the Western Herault, an area known as Cathar country steeped in history from the Greek and Roman periods as well as during its turbulent periods during the Midde ages. Beziers is also known as the wine capital of the Languedoc Roussillon with close by the famous wine regions of St Chinian, Faugeres and Minervois with some great wines and beautiful countryside, and the mountains of the Pyrenees just a short drive away. The historic town of Beziers is excellent to explore, its history around the Madelaine church and the town cathedral overlooking the plains of the Herault to the Languedoc Mountains and the Pyrenees. Carcassone is nearby also.The village centre was built around the wine trade and many of the traditional village houses and shops are dedicated still to this activity. The village has a number of fetes throughout the year and is well placed for restaurants and local shops, as well as access to the town centre of Beziers and the coast. The Canal du Midi, the Via Domitia are also nearby. The city of Beziers is 5 minutes away by car and is steeped in Occitan and Cathar history, also playing host to one of the largest street festivals of the year in Mid August , the feria which goes on for 5 days!! There are many other such events in all villages with free concerts on the beach in Valras most nights of the year, the city of Carcassone not far away, the Pont du Gard near Ales, the Knights Templar churches best represented in the village in the Herault valley at St Guilhem le Dessert, the Cathar castles and towns and the mountains of the Pyrennees. |
Flights to the area from Europe and the UK in particular are at Beziers airport (10 minutes drive), Montpellier (45 minutes drive, Perpignan and Carcassone (one hours drive) with further links available via Nimes and Girona (Barcelona) , TGV to Beziers from Paris is available in 4 hours.Reservation is subject to rental contract with payment in advance including a refundable security deposit. Minimum of one weeks rental is required with reservation in peak season strictly Saturday to Saturday, with flexibility for changeover day out of peak season. Rental rates are February, March, April and October 875 Euros per week, May, June and September 1475 Euros per week and July and August 1945 Euros per week. The refundable security deposit is 300 Euros. Payment can be made in Euros or Sterling equivalent. All linen and towels are included (not beach towels) and an end of stay clean is included in the price. Further clean and linen changes available at cost on request. |
