Ideal for quiet relaxed holidays or for those looking to explore this beautiful area, the house makes an excellent base. There are golf courses, horse riding, canoeing, white water rafting, or fishing courses nearby. The area is also ideal for wine tours, biking holidays, walking or rambling, climbing and on the Western Europe migratory route for bird watching.
Within a drive of a less than two hours are the walled city of Carcassone, the Roman arenas in Nimes and the Roman aqueduct at the Pont de Gard, the cathar castles, the long stretches of the Mediterranean, skiing in the Pyrenees. And for serious shoppers Beziers, Montpellier and Even Barcelona is within a short car trip.
With 300 days of sunshine a year the region has one of the finest climates in Europe, and with the Mediterranean never far away one some of the finest beaches in France. The region specialises in the wine trade and is called Faugeres becoming famous for the quality of its wines and part of the worlds largest area of land dedicated to vines. These wines are becoming more and more popular and nearby also are St Chinian, and Minervois wines along the Canal du Midi. |

The geography resembles that of Tuscany and offers a truly exciting historical area to explore. The hills of the Haut Languedoc are within 20 minutes and the Mediterranean beaches are just 25 minutes away at Valras Plage.
Carcassone is an hours drive away and the Pont du Gard 1hr 20 minutes; Barcelona is 3 hours but for those with a need to shop or enjoy the many festivals year round then the towns of the Herault are nearby Beziers is 15 minutes, Pezenas 25 minutes and Montpellier 55 minutes drive.
The towns of Pezenas and Beziers attract many visitors each year both for there history and the local festivals, such as the Feria in August in Beziers or the Mirondella des Arts in Pezenas in July. Every village has its own fetes to complement these and close to the house is the best preserved chateau open to the public in the Herault the Chateau de Cassan which has many musical events as well as exhibitions, and of course its wines.
Carcassone is within an hours drive as is the Pont du Gard, the famous roman aqueduct. But there are many old Roman and Greek settlements to visit both nations having conquered and settled here in the past. Bedarieux has a great market every Monday and Pezenas every Saturday with smaller local markets held in all the villages. One place well worth visiting locally for the view of the Mediterranean coastline is the Moulins or Windmills of Faugeres just a few minutes away by car. Or the International canoeing centre on the Orb at Reals which is also great for picnics by the river - you can even join in! |

Ideally located in a quiet no through road the house is within a few hundred metres of the village centre. Autignac is just 15 minutes drive from Beziers town and has easy access to the motorway network at Beziers ie the A9 motorway and soon to be finished A75 from Paris.
Flights from the UK arrive in Beziers (20 mins), Montpellier (1hr 10mins), Carcassone(1hr 10mins), Perpignan(1hr 10 mins) and Nimes(1hr 30 mins) airports as well as across the border in Girona(2hrs drive). There are TGV services to Beziers.
The house has Satellite TV with English channels including BBC, WIFI access, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, cooker, hob, microwave, fridge freezer, barbecue, washing machine.
All in linen and towels are included in the price and an end of stay clean. Additional cleaning and grocery packs for arrival arranged on request. Beach towels not included.
Rental prices per week are 975Euros per week in June, July and August, May and September are 600 Euros per week and October to December and January to April 425 Euros per week. There is a 300 Euros refundable security deposit and all reservations can be paid in £sterling equivalent. |
